#302: configurable pond start page, created with every new pond
Opening a pond landed on whatever sorted first in the sidebar — stable, but a rule nobody could see, and one whose target moved as soon as someone added a page ahead of it. New ponds landed on the empty-pond hint instead of anything useful. - `startPageId` joins the pond settings. No migration: `Pond.settings` is already jsonb. It stores an id, not a slug, so renaming or moving the page keeps it working. - `PondHomePage` prefers it, but only when the page is in this user's page list. That list already holds just what they may see, so a start page hidden by a page-scoped grant — or trashed — falls back silently instead of landing them on a 404, and it costs no extra request. - Both creation paths give the pond a start page, titled from the creator's stored locale. It happens after the creating transaction commits: the owner's grant is written inside it and permissions cache per pond, so creating the page any earlier would ask about rights the grant has not published yet. A failure is logged, not fatal — a pond without a start page still works. `PagesModule` imported `PondsModule` without using it. Removing that vestigial edge let PondsModule depend on PagesModule in the honest direction instead of tying the two together with forwardRef. Every pond created through the api now owns a page, which broke eight suites whose teardown deleted ponds directly — `Page.pond` deliberately has no cascade, because a real purge removes contents explicitly and audits it. A shared `deletePondsWhere` helper deletes pages first. Two tests that counted pages now account for the start page rather than pretending the pond began empty. |

Instrument every full-content read channel for pages with classification = vs_nfd (ADR 0023, variant A): SPA state fetch and read rendering, public JSON content, no-JS shell, expanded embeds, public API GET (incl. the MCP read_page path and write echoes), attachment download under the #212 effective classification, all export shapes (markdown, pond ZIP, account data export, queued docx/odt/pdf at enqueue), and collab-token issuance as the api-side proxy for the WS join. Events land in the new read_events table (no FKs — evidence survives page purges and hard user deletions) with actor, session key (session:/token:/job:/anon), page, pond, channel and the classification at read time. Recording failures are NOT swallowed: a failed write aborts the read (hard failure, the deliberate contrast to AuditService — decision recorded in ADR 0023 and security.md §Logging, together with the recorded residuals: content fragments and feeds). One e2e test per channel proves both the event and its absence for unclassified pages, plus the hard-failure semantics. Refs #222. A classified page's .md carries the level in YAML frontmatter AND the marking line at top and bottom; unclassified files are byte-identical to before. Every pond archive (incl. the per-pond folders of the account data export) ships a manifest.json listing each file with its level and stating the highest level once at archive level — media inherits the highest classification among the readable pages referencing it (fail-closed). Round trip: the importer recognizes exactly our frontmatter block, strips it plus the imprint lines, and creates the page at least at the imported level (content must not escape its marking by traveling through a ZIP) — pinned by unit and e2e round-trip tests. New pages take max(instance default, parent level); moving a subtree under a higher-classified parent raises every member below that level. No move-like path (reposition, trash-promote, purge-promote) lowers a level as a side effect — pinned by test. Raising is ordinary editorial work; lowering requires the dedicated capability canLowerClassification (pond-wide Pond Admin) in the central permission model. Enum field on Page (UNCLASSIFIED default, VS_NFD), migration backfills existing pages. New pages take the instance-wide default from classification.newPageDefault (admin-visible, de+en). The value rides in every PageView, so no channel needs an extra request. The field is a marking, not a protection mechanism: a test pins that permission decisions are unchanged by it. Trashing a page (promote and subtree modes) clears the affected search vectors, restoring rebuilds them; pond trash clears every page vector of the pond, pond restore reindexes only the live pages (pages trashed inside stay out); the GDPR pseudonymization's personal-pond trash does the same. reindexAll now converges to the invariant (clears trashed, rebuilds live), and a one-off migration backfills vectors of already-trashed content. The query-side deleted_at guards stay untouched as the independent second layer - the test proves both layers separately, including writing a vector back onto a trashed page (simulating a future path that forgot the clear) and asserting the query still hides it. New provider methods removePond/reindexPond behind the SearchProvider seam. COLLAB_TOKEN_SECRET becomes a root key: every purpose derives its own HKDF-SHA-256 subkey (deriveTokenKey), and no code path signs with the root key directly. Collaboration tokens are signed and verified by jose with HS256 as an explicit allowlist; the sign/verify API turns async at its three call sites. Unsubscribe tokens move from a purpose-prefix string to the structural subkey, with a documented dual-verify window (legacy derivation accepted until 2026-11-01, covering the 90-day TTL of links in already-sent mail). The cross-runtime property that justified the homegrown implementation is now proven by a test: the built CJS and ESM dist artefacts round-trip tokens in both directions in child processes (jose v6 reaches CJS via Node's require(esm), pinned Node 22 images). Negative tests cover cross-purpose subkeys, root-key-signed tokens, alg:none and RS256. POST /ponds/:pondId/import/vault (pond-admin-gated; a vault import
creates a subtree, uploads files, and creates labels — administration,
not everyday editing) takes the ZIP plus a JSON options field
{parentPageId?, labelIds?, frontmatterMode}. The archive is parsed at
enqueue for fast 400s; the job (new kind import_vault, riding the
existing isImportKind worker routing) re-parses and runs the #116
transform, then: containers top-down → notes (asset placeholders →
uploaded pond files; non-images become page attachments) → tags to
labels (nested tags build a label hierarchy via LabelsService, so
locking and cache invalidation apply) plus the dialog labels.
All-or-nothing: any failure hard-deletes the created pages (children
first) and removes the stored files (quota restored), then surfaces as
import_vault_invalid_zip / import_vault_too_large / quota_exceeded /
conversion_failed — and makes the worker's retry policy safe.
Supporting changes:
- conversion_jobs gains a nullable options jsonb column; enqueue takes
kind-specific options and a maxInputBytes override (the 25 MiB
default protects the pandoc sidecar, which a vault never touches —
vaults use the 64 MiB upload limit).
- insertPage accepts a pre-reserved slug (the batch reserves all slugs
up front against pond ∪ batch).
- NEW: pages born with content seed their outgoing page_links rows
(deriveContent now returns wikilinkSlugs) — imported pages would
otherwise stay invisible to backlinks and the graph until their
first collab save. Collab still rewrites the rows on every save, and
the existing phantom resolution heals batch creation order.
import-vault.e2e.db.test.ts (4 tests, real worker drained): gating +
input rejection, the full fixture import (tree under a mount page,
collision suffixes, link rows incl. phantom, nested tag labels, extra
label everywhere, frontmatter stripped, image embedded + PDF attached),
complete quota rollback, and a clean re-import with fresh suffixes.

The slug-based machine surfaces now see and shape the hierarchy: - REST: page list/detail carry parent (the parent page's slug, nulled when the token's user may not read it — same no-leak rule as the internal list); create accepts parent; PATCH accepts parent (slug nests, null moves to the top level, appended at the end of the new sibling group via the new PagesService.moveToEnd). Cycle/depth refusals keep their regular error codes. OpenAPI updated. - MCP: list_pages returns parent, create_page takes an optional parent slug, update_page moves with parent (slug|null); tool errors carry the api code (page_cycle covered in the e2e pack). - ZIP export deliberately stays flat — noted in features.md; the hierarchy is organizational only. e2e: REST pack covers nested create, list shape, move/root-move, 409 page_cycle, 404 unknown parent; MCP pack covers nested create, list parent, and the cycle tool error. DELETE /pages/:id?mode=promote|subtree — promote (the default) moves the page's live children up to its parent; subtree trashes every live descendant with one timestamp and requires write permission on all of them (no partial deletes; trash access is write capability, ADR 0013). Trashed pages keep their parentId. Restore re-attaches to the nearest live ancestor (else root), which makes restore order-independent: restoring a parent afterwards never re-claims an already-restored child. Purge promotes any remaining children to the purged page's parent; the FK's SetNull stays as backstop only. tree-trash.e2e.db.test.ts covers promote, subtree + one-timestamp, the 403 descendant gate (label-DENY editor), order-independent restore, and child promotion on purge. Pages form a tree via a nullable parent_id self-relation (SetNull backstop; the real trash/purge semantics follow with #107). Slugs and URLs stay flat and pond-unique, so moving a page never breaks links. - Shared: generic parent-id tree helpers in tree.ts (labels re-export them; buildLabelTree keeps its name-sorted behavior), MAX_PAGE_DEPTH=6, parentId on PageView, createPageInputSchema.parentId (nullish), repositionPageInputSchema.parentId (optional; absent = keep parent). - API: create validates the parent (same pond, live, depth); PATCH /pages/:id/position reparents atomically with the placement, rejecting cycles (page_cycle) and depth violations (page_depth_exceeded); GET /ponds/:id/pages nulls parentId when the caller may not read the parent, so hidden page ids never leak. - New error codes translated de+en; hierarchy.db.test.ts covers create, 404s, depth, cycle, atomic reparent, and the permission nulling. New watches table (polymorphic target, unique per user+target; page purge
removes its rows via the trash service, and the list endpoint drops

The read-only widget surface over page/pond data (ADR 0008 extension point `pageTool`): - Host: PageToolsPanel lists the pond's active pageTool surfaces behind disclosures — each sandbox iframe mounts lazily on first open and tears down on close. Uploading a Word/OpenOffice document to POST /ponds/:id/import enqueues a conversion job (the #62 queue) that produces a new page in the pond; the client polls GET /jobs/:id for the created resultPageId. Pipeline (ImportService, ADR 0009): pandoc-server is stateless and hands back a document's media no other way, so we convert in two passes — docx/odt → html with embed-resources inlines every image as a data: URI, then html → gfm produces clean structural Markdown with those data URIs still inline. Embedded images are stored as pond files (with quota accounting) and their references rewritten to file ids on the Markdown text before parsing (the editor parser only admits png/jpeg/gif/webp data URIs); an image whose bytes the upload pipeline rejects is dropped, not fatal. The title comes from a leading top-level heading (removed from the body) else the file name. The page is created from the resulting Yjs state. The shared conversion worker routes import-kind jobs to the pipeline via a token (breaking a module cycle), so import inherits the queue's locking, retry, and restart-survival. Media stored during a failed attempt is rolled back; a pond that runs out of storage fails the job with quota_exceeded. - schema: ConversionJob gains pond_id / source_name / result_page_id (migration 20260710041215_import_pages_conversion); ConversionJobView gains resultPageId. - PagesService.createWithState / yjs-content docToState build a page from a prepared document; FilesService.linkAttachmentsToPage links import media. - fixtures/import/: representative .docx/.odt corpus (headings, lists, nested lists, tables, images, links, bold/italic) with expected-Markdown snapshots; scripts/gen-import-fixtures.mjs regenerates them. - tests: import.service.db.test.ts drives the full pipeline with a fake converter (CI); import.fixtures.test.ts runs the real two-pass conversion over the corpus and a 50-page timing check against a reachable sidecar. - i18n: import_unsupported_format (de+en). Live editing now obeys the same rules as REST: the collab-token mode comes from the shared grant resolution, anonymous visitors can join public pages, and revoking write access flips a running session to read-only within seconds. - Anonymous public tokens: `GET /pages/:id/collab-token` is `@Public()` but still permission-guarded, so a logged-out visitor gets an `ro` token where a `public` grant makes the page readable (404 otherwise). The token's `userId` is nullable (shared schema + collab context) for anonymous subjects. - Prompt revocation: the pond-level NOTIFY (#39) now also fires on label tree/assignment changes (LabelsService move/remove/assign/unassign), and the collab server closes the *actual* WebSocket instead of only sending an application-level close message. The editor now edits over the collaboration server instead of REST — the moment Dorfteich becomes collaborative (ADR 0003, realtime-collaboration.md). Web: - New `useCollabProvider` hook binds a page's Y.Doc to a HocuspocusProvider. The document loads and persists through the collab server (#35); there is no REST autosave and no REST seed (a REST seed would fork the doc lineage and duplicate content). The collab token is fetched lazily on every (re)connect via an async token function, so an expired token is replaced transparently and a permission change takes effect on the next reconnect. - Connection-state UI replaces the save indicator: connecting / connected ("Live") / reconnecting / offline, driven by provider status + navigator online state. Read-only (`ro`) tokens make the editor non-editable with a reason; an oversize-document stateless error (#35) surfaces a banner. - Removed `use-page-autosave.ts` and `yjs-base64.ts` (no longer used). API: - `PUT /pages/:id/state` is retired and returns 410 `rest_state_write_retired` (the criterion deferred here from #35). Collab is the sole writer of page state; the read paths remain. Removed the now-dead `saveState` service. e2e / CI: - The e2e static server proxies the `/collab` WebSocket upgrade (mirrors Caddy); vite dev gains a `/collab` ws proxy. The auth-e2e CI job starts the collab server and runs a new collab pack. - New `collab.spec.ts`: two browsers converge on one page (the milestone headline), and offline edits continue locally and sync on reconnect. The read-only live assertion is a `test.fixme` until real read-only grants exist — under interim access seeing and modifying coincide, so no `ro` token is issued yet (that arrives with #53). The api mints a short-lived (60 s) HS256 JWT per page open after an interim
permission check; the collab server authenticates every connection with it
(ADR 0003/0007 — the only JWTs in the system).
- packages/shared: browser-safe token schema/types in `collab-token`, and the
Node `crypto` sign/verify in `token-crypto` behind its own subpath export
(`@dorfteich/shared/token-crypto`) so the web bundle never pulls in
`node:crypto`. Only HS256 is produced/accepted; the signature is checked in
constant time before any untrusted field is read.
- api: `GET /pages/:id/collab-token` (auth-required) returns
{token, mode, expiresInSeconds}; `mode` is rw/ro via the interim access
service; issuance is logged at debug level without the token value.
- collab: `onAuthenticate` verifies the token, checks the pageId matches the
document name, stores {userId, mode} context, and enforces `ro` via
Hocuspocus' read-only connection flag. Hocuspocus' own signal handling is
disabled so index.ts remains the single shutdown owner.
- Shared COLLAB_TOKEN_SECRET env for api + collab (compose, dev overlay,
.env.example, stage docs); a dev default keeps native dev/test/CI running.
Tests: shared token round-trip/rejection; api endpoint e2e (auth required,
claims, 404 for non-members/unknown ids); collab integration via
HocuspocusProvider (valid token connects; expired/tampered/mismatched-page/
wrong-secret rejected; read-only writes dropped, verified with two clients).

Backend: a generic maintenance-job scheduler (SchedulerService, `jobs` table) that any later maintenance job registers with instead of growing its own timer loop. Due-ness and the run-mutex both live in the DB row (`lastRunAt` survives a restart; claiming a due job is one atomic `UPDATE ... WHERE status != 'RUNNING'`), and an injectable ClockService lets tests simulate retention elapsing without waiting or faking the global clock. Trash endpoints: GET /ponds/:id/trash (list), POST /pages/:id/restore, DELETE /pages/:id/purge (manual, bypasses retention) — all sharing the same purge logic as the scheduled daily job (default 30-day retention, new trash.retentionDays instance setting). Purging deletes a page's content cache, update log, and attachment files/quota; page_versions is a placeholder until M3 exists. Direct navigation to a trashed page now 404s with a distinguishable `page_trashed` code for editors (a plain 404 for everyone else) instead of the generic not-found. Attachment.pageId — added in #27 but never wired up — now gets set on every page state save to whichever page's document currently embeds the file, which is what lets purge find a page's files. Frontend: a per-pond trash view (restore/purge), a "move to trash" action with confirmation in the page menu, and a trash link in the sidebar for pond owners. Also fixes react-query retrying 4xx responses for several seconds by default, which was masking the trash-hint 404 in the UI (and would have affected any other not-found/permission error the same way). Wires docToMarkdown/markdownToDoc into the editor clipboard: copying selected content puts Markdown on text/plain alongside the browser's own HTML (so pasting into a plain-text destination yields Markdown), and pasting plain text that looks like a Markdown document converts it to rich nodes; content with real HTML on the clipboard is left to ProseMirror's normal HTML-based paste, and the heuristic requires two or more distinct Markdown-shaped lines (or a fenced code block) so ordinary prose is never mangled. Both directions need the parsed/selected doc re-hydrated against whichever schema instance is on the other side of the boundary: the canonical editorSchema (packages/shared) for markdownToDoc's output before inserting it into the live view, and the live view's schema wrapped back into editorSchema before handing a slice to docToMarkdown — they're structurally identical but not the same object, and ProseMirror's content checks are identity-based. GET /ponds/:id/pages lists a pond's pages ordered by the pond's persisted sidebarSort setting (alpha/created; manual arrives with #45). The sidebar consumes it to show the page list with an active-page highlight, an owner-only sort switch (persists via the existing PATCH /ponds/:id), and an inline "new page" flow. The top bar gains a pond switcher; a new /p/:pondSlug route gives it somewhere to land, redirecting to the pond's first page once loaded. Sidebar collapse gains a Ctrl/Cmd+\ shortcut and a slightly refined transition. Closes #26 |

TipTap is bound to the canonical ProseMirror schema (packages/shared, #24) via a generic bridge (spec-utils.ts) that re-derives every node/mark's attrs/parseDOM/toDOM from editorSchema instead of duplicating them, so the editor's schema stays byte-for-byte identical to what the api decodes Yjs states against — guarded by a schema- fidelity + real Yjs round-trip test (@tiptap/y-tiptap client encoding against y-prosemirror server decoding). Route /p/:pondSlug/:pageSlug (RequireAuth) resolves the page via a new GET /ponds/:pondId/pages/:slug endpoint, binds a local Y.Doc via @tiptap/extension-collaboration (fragment "default"), and offers a view/edit mode toggle (sidebar auto-hides in edit mode via a small AppLayout context). Page state saves debounced to PUT /pages/:id/state with a truthful saving/saved/error(retrying) indicator; title saves separately via PATCH /pages/:id. Toolbar covers headings, marks, lists, blockquote, code block, hr, table (insert/row/column/header ops via prosemirror-tables), a minimal link mark, and an image placeholder (real upload is #27/#28). Prisma models `pages`/`page_updates`/`page_content_cache` per data-model.md. Endpoints: POST /ponds/:id/pages (title -> empty Yjs doc state, seeded via y-prosemirror), GET /pages/:id (meta + base64 state), PUT /pages/:id/state (client-encoded Yjs state, rejected above the 5 MiB operations.md limit or if it doesn't decode into a valid document for the schema), PATCH /pages/:id (title/slug — explicit slug changes validate uniqueness per pond, title-only renames keep the slug), DELETE (soft). Access follows InterimAccessService via the page's pond, same 404-not-403 interim rule as ponds. State saves decode the Yjs update with yjs + y-prosemirror and run it through the #24 shared derivation functions (docToPlainText/ docToMarkdown/docToHtml/extractOutline) to refresh page_content_cache. The Yjs XmlFragment name ("default") and the derivation call are factored so the collab server's persistence hooks (#35) can reuse both. Raised the API's JSON body limit to 8 MiB (main.ts and the e2e test app) to fit base64-encoded page state. Closes #23 |
