#224: read-trail storage — partitioning, retention, admin query path
Convert read_events to monthly RANGE partitions on occurred_at, with a DEFAULT partition as safety net: a lagging maintenance job must never turn the trail's hard-failure semantics into an outage for classified reads. The dedup unique pair (#223) moves to per-partition indexes (PostgreSQL cannot carry it on the parent); a bucket spanning a month boundary may record one duplicate — over-recording is acceptable, gaps are not. New daily job read-trail-maintenance (job-count fence 9 -> 10) creates months ahead — each with its dedup index — and applies the trail's own retention readTrail.retentionDays (default 365, deliberately independent of audit.retentionDays): whole expired months are DROPped without scanning, remainders deleted by range, every run audited as read_trail.pruned (catalogue v1.2; the fence regex now admits an underscore namespace). Site-Admin query path GET /admin/system/read-events answers "who read page X" and "what did user Y read" within a period — API-only by design, documented. Growth measured and documented in data-model.md: ~1 MB per 1000 events including indexes. Tests: retention pruning + audited deletion + admin queries on the shared database; the partitioned shape, per-partition P2002 dedup, months-ahead creation and DROP-based pruning against a fresh database built by the real migration chain. #223: dedup window for the read trail
One event per (session, page, channel) within an aligned window of readTrail.dedupWindowMinutes (default 5): buckets are floor(epoch / windowSeconds), and a unique (dedup_key, window_bucket) pair collapses concurrent duplicates race-free at insert time — the first access in a window is always recorded, a later duplicate lands on the unique violation and is skipped quietly (a skipped duplicate is not a gap; only real write failures still abort the read). Each row carries windowSeconds, so the evidence states it represents a window, never a request count. Reconnects within a window stay one event; a new session records again even for the same user; channels never collapse into each other; the page-less attachment key uses the documented `-` placeholder. Load evidence: 30 collab-token renewals inside one window produce exactly one event (test), bounding a live editing session at ~12 events/hour/page. Window semantics documented in ADR 0023, the VS-NfD security documentation (#228) and as a hardening-guide line for the new setting (care rule: same PR). Refs #223. Instrument every full-content read channel for pages with classification = vs_nfd (ADR 0023, variant A): SPA state fetch and read rendering, public JSON content, no-JS shell, expanded embeds, public API GET (incl. the MCP read_page path and write echoes), attachment download under the #212 effective classification, all export shapes (markdown, pond ZIP, account data export, queued docx/odt/pdf at enqueue), and collab-token issuance as the api-side proxy for the WS join. Events land in the new read_events table (no FKs — evidence survives page purges and hard user deletions) with actor, session key (session:/token:/job:/anon), page, pond, channel and the classification at read time. Recording failures are NOT swallowed: a failed write aborts the read (hard failure, the deliberate contrast to AuditService — decision recorded in ADR 0023 and security.md §Logging, together with the recorded residuals: content fragments and feeds). One e2e test per channel proves both the event and its absence for unclassified pages, plus the hard-failure semantics. Refs #222. #209: pandoc reference documents carry the VS-NfD marking for DOCX/ODT
reference-vs-nfd.docx/.odt ship as derived binaries: the pinned pandoc's
default reference documents plus a header and footer with the marking —
part of the document's page setup, so it repeats on every page in Word
and LibreOffice and is not deletable body text. Source of truth is
scripts/gen-classified-reference-docs.mjs (wording from shared
classificationMarking(); maintenance documented in assets/README.md).
The converter passes reference docs to pandoc-server via in-request
files + reference-doc; the worker attaches them for marked docx/odt jobs
(job option {marking}, as in #208). Unclassified exports pass nothing
and are unchanged (pinned by fake-converter test). Fidelity suite
asserts against real pandoc 3.6 that marked outputs carry the
header/footer parts and unmarked ones do not; per-page repetition
verified via LibreOffice 25.8 headless PDF (5/5 pages, 2 markings each,
both formats). Word: quick manual look pending (sample files in the
workspace), procedure documented in assets/README.md.

A classified page's PDF export carries its marking as a job option; the renderer hands it to Gotenberg's Chromium header/footer templates, so it repeats on every page — bold centered in the running header and next to the existing page numbers in the footer. Unclassified pages send exactly the pre-#208 forms (unchanged PDF, asserted by the fidelity smoke and a lastMarking=null check). New real-Gotenberg fidelity test asserts the marking appears twice on EVERY page of a multi-page render while the document-level header keeps working. Enum field on Page (UNCLASSIFIED default, VS_NFD), migration backfills existing pages. New pages take the instance-wide default from classification.newPageDefault (admin-visible, de+en). The value rides in every PageView, so no channel needs an extra request. The field is a marking, not a protection mechanism: a test pins that permission decisions are unchanged by it. Every upload stores the SHA-256 of its bytes, computed from the in-memory buffer that is written — never by re-reading disk. Every download re-hashes the stored object BEFORE the first byte leaves (memory bounded by the max_file_bytes quota that gated the upload) and fails closed on mismatch with attachment_integrity_failure; the mismatch lands in the audit trail as file.integrity_failed with both hashes. Detection of payload manipulation is the one integrity duty par. 52 VSA leaves with the application — only it knows what the file should be. Pre-#199 rows are hashed by a bounded, idempotent backfill that rides the existing nightly orphan-file-sweep job (no new scheduler job, job fence untouched); unreadable files are logged and retried, never silently skipped, and null-hash rows are served unverified only until the backfill reaches them. Operator runbook note in security.md (restore from backup, re-download, audit entry carries both hashes). The raw input/result bytes of import/export conversion jobs were kept forever; a deleted classified page could live on inside its last export. A new daily conversion-payload-prune job nulls both once a finished (succeeded or failed) job passes conversion.payloadRetentionDays (instance setting, default 30) — the row survives for status/audit. PENDING and RUNNING rows keep their payload, so the worker's stale-lock recovery path is untouched; a hand-requeued pruned job fails finally via conversionInputOf instead of crashing the worker. The input column becomes nullable; the migration backfills by clearing payloads of jobs already finished longer ago than the default period (recent results stay downloadable until they age out). Trashing a page (promote and subtree modes) clears the affected search vectors, restoring rebuilds them; pond trash clears every page vector of the pond, pond restore reindexes only the live pages (pages trashed inside stay out); the GDPR pseudonymization's personal-pond trash does the same. reindexAll now converges to the invariant (clears trashed, rebuilds live), and a one-off migration backfills vectors of already-trashed content. The query-side deleted_at guards stay untouched as the independent second layer - the test proves both layers separately, including writing a vector back onto a trashed page (simulating a future path that forgot the clear) and asserting the query still hides it. #194: orphan-file sweep, drop the unused Attachment.deletedAt
Nightly sweep with two directions: attachments still unclaimed (pageId null) after a 24 h grace period - claimed by no collab persist, page upload, or import - are reclaimed (row, file, quota released); files on the uploads volume without a database row (drift after a crashed upload) are removed once older than the grace period. The grace period protects the paste-then-insert window. Deliberate deviation from the issue's content-reference idea, documented in schema comment and operations.md: claimed attachments whose page content no longer embeds them are NOT auto-deleted. The page attachments panel lists claimed files as user-managed objects (inserting into the document is optional there), so 'not embedded' is not 'unused' - an auto-delete would destroy panel assets. Humans clean those up in the panel or the pond file manager, which flags orphans already. Attachment.deletedAt is removed by migration - deletion is hard everywhere (sweep, purge, manual), there is no soft-delete state; the never-true deletedAt:null filters in files/export queries went with it. Semantics changed from the issue during planning (documented there, comment 1192): favorites are PERSONAL per user, not pond-wide — the sys-fav label approach is dropped entirely. Storage is a page_favorites table (userId+pageId, FK cascade); PUT/DELETE /pages/:id/favorite toggles idempotently and needs read access only (#60 404 semantics — a star is a note-to-self, not a page modification), GET /ponds/:id/favorites lists the account's stars sliced to still-readable pages. Trashed pages keep their rows, so restore keeps the star; purge cascades it away. Web: one shared ['favorites', pondId] query feeds the TopBar star (between labels and history, golden when set), the golden tree icons in the sidebar, and a latching "Favorites" filter button next to the view switch that narrows either view (combinable with the label filter). No public-API/MCP exposure — with the label approach gone, that parity is no longer free; favorites stay UI-only for now. New favorites e2e pack (star toggle, golden icon, filter, per-user isolation) wired into CI; DB suite covers the round-trip, read gating, and the trash/restore/purge lifecycle. POST /ponds/:pondId/import/vault (pond-admin-gated; a vault import
creates a subtree, uploads files, and creates labels — administration,
not everyday editing) takes the ZIP plus a JSON options field
{parentPageId?, labelIds?, frontmatterMode}. The archive is parsed at
enqueue for fast 400s; the job (new kind import_vault, riding the
existing isImportKind worker routing) re-parses and runs the #116
transform, then: containers top-down → notes (asset placeholders →
uploaded pond files; non-images become page attachments) → tags to
labels (nested tags build a label hierarchy via LabelsService, so
locking and cache invalidation apply) plus the dialog labels.
All-or-nothing: any failure hard-deletes the created pages (children
first) and removes the stored files (quota restored), then surfaces as
import_vault_invalid_zip / import_vault_too_large / quota_exceeded /
conversion_failed — and makes the worker's retry policy safe.
Supporting changes:
- conversion_jobs gains a nullable options jsonb column; enqueue takes
kind-specific options and a maxInputBytes override (the 25 MiB
default protects the pandoc sidecar, which a vault never touches —
vaults use the 64 MiB upload limit).
- insertPage accepts a pre-reserved slug (the batch reserves all slugs
up front against pond ∪ batch).
- NEW: pages born with content seed their outgoing page_links rows
(deriveContent now returns wikilinkSlugs) — imported pages would
otherwise stay invisible to backlinks and the graph until their
first collab save. Collab still rewrites the rows on every save, and
the existing phantom resolution heals batch creation order.
import-vault.e2e.db.test.ts (4 tests, real worker drained): gating +
input rejection, the full fixture import (tree under a mount page,
collision suffixes, link rows incl. phantom, nested tag labels, extra
label everywhere, frontmatter stripped, image embedded + PDF attached),
complete quota rollback, and a clean re-import with fresh suffixes.

Pages form a tree via a nullable parent_id self-relation (SetNull backstop; the real trash/purge semantics follow with #107). Slugs and URLs stay flat and pond-unique, so moving a page never breaks links. - Shared: generic parent-id tree helpers in tree.ts (labels re-export them; buildLabelTree keeps its name-sorted behavior), MAX_PAGE_DEPTH=6, parentId on PageView, createPageInputSchema.parentId (nullish), repositionPageInputSchema.parentId (optional; absent = keep parent). - API: create validates the parent (same pond, live, depth); PATCH /pages/:id/position reparents atomically with the placement, rejecting cycles (page_cycle) and depth violations (page_depth_exceeded); GET /ponds/:id/pages nulls parentId when the caller may not read the parent, so hidden page ids never leak. - New error codes translated de+en; hierarchy.db.test.ts covers create, 404s, depth, cycle, atomic reparent, and the permission nulling. New per-user digestFrequency (hourly default | daily | off) on the profile and in the settings UI. A scheduler job (15 min cadence) mails a user once their oldest unread, unmailed notification exceeds the cadence window: one localized mail per batch, grouped per pond then per page with actor names and change/comment counts, enqueued through the mail outbox. Sending marks the batch mailed — never read — and re-checks page read permission per entry at send time; entries the user can no longer read are dropped from the mail but still marked handled, so revoked content cannot queue forever. Every mail carries a signed, single-purpose unsubscribe link: it only flips the setting to off, renders a session-free confirmation page, and sets no cookie. Generation fans page events out to page and pond watchers, excluding the actors, and re-checks page read permission per watcher at delivery time — a revoked watcher gets nothing. Sources: named version snapshots (api), new comments (api), and the collab server's automatic session-close snapshots — announced over a new pg NOTIFY channel (the reverse of the established api→collab bus) consumed by a dedicated LISTEN client in the api, since the collab server has no permission resolution of its own. API: paginated list (unread first via nulls-first ordering), mark read, mark all read. UI: bell with unread badge in the top bar (30 s polling, no push in v1) and a dropdown whose entries navigate and mark themselves read; comment notifications deep-link with ?comments=1, which now opens the comments panel on load. When the api runs against a database without the setup.completedAt marker, a global SetupGuard answers every non-exempt route with 503 setup_required; only /setup/*, health probes, and the session routes stay reachable. The wizard steps (POST /setup/admin|instance|smtp| registration|complete) write straight to their production homes; the Site Admin step signs its creator in, later steps require that session. Completing sets the marker and locks every step permanently (410, also across restarts, and not reopenable via PATCH /admin/settings). SMTP entered in the wizard is verified with a live delivery test first (failure blocks the step with the transport error as detail) and then persisted to the new env-backed secret store: a mode-600 dotenv file on the new `secrets` volume (SECRETS_FILE). Explicit container env always wins over the store; empty compose-passed strings count as unset. The mail transport now resolves lazily through SmtpConfigService so wizard changes apply without a restart. SETUP_ADMIN_* env pre-seeds the whole wizard at boot for automated deploys; a backfill migration marks instances that already have a Site Admin as completed, and seed/vitest global-setup do the same for fixture databases. The setup e2e suite provisions its own fresh database (CREATE DATABASE + migrate deploy) per run. The end-to-end proof of the code-block path: packages/plugins/mermaid
bundles the mermaid library (esbuild, ~3.4 MB unpacked — well under the
20 MiB install gate) so diagrams render entirely inside the sandbox; the
frame CSP forbids any network request (pinned by the e2e's off-origin
request assertion).
- Block data is `{ source, svg }`: the source text is the document of
record, `svg` the last successfully rendered snapshot — persisted
together on every good preview, so office/PDF exports can show the
diagram without executing anything (#79).
- Edit mode: source textarea with a debounced live preview and inline
error display; a failing source still persists (typed text never lost),
paired with the last good snapshot.
- Render mode: renders the stored source; if that stops rendering, it
falls back to the stored snapshot with a "stale" note — a bad edit
never breaks render mode.
- mermaid leaves its scratch element (and, on parse errors, an error SVG)
on document.body — the render helper removes both, so the surface only
shows what the plugin inserts.
- e2e mermaid.spec.ts: flowchart renders + survives reload with zero
off-origin requests, inline syntax errors with intact render mode, and
a collaborator sees the diagram appear live. Wired into CI.
- seed.ts now heals a missing owner-admin grant on existing personal
ponds: a dev database shared with the test suites can lose it to a
cleanup, and the seed's contract is "idempotent", not "first run only".

A signed-in account can export all of its own data — profile, a list of its memberships/grants, and the Markdown of its personal pond plus the shared ponds it owns — as one ZIP. Foreign content never appears: only owned ponds are bundled and the per-page read filter (reused from #65) runs for each. - Reuse the conversion-job queue as the async carrier: a `data_export` job whose worker branch resolves DataExportService via a token (no DI cycle), builds the ZIP, and stores it with an `expiresAt`. Uploading a Word/OpenOffice document to POST /ponds/:id/import enqueues a conversion job (the #62 queue) that produces a new page in the pond; the client polls GET /jobs/:id for the created resultPageId. Pipeline (ImportService, ADR 0009): pandoc-server is stateless and hands back a document's media no other way, so we convert in two passes — docx/odt → html with embed-resources inlines every image as a data: URI, then html → gfm produces clean structural Markdown with those data URIs still inline. Embedded images are stored as pond files (with quota accounting) and their references rewritten to file ids on the Markdown text before parsing (the editor parser only admits png/jpeg/gif/webp data URIs); an image whose bytes the upload pipeline rejects is dropped, not fatal. The title comes from a leading top-level heading (removed from the body) else the file name. The page is created from the resulting Yjs state. The shared conversion worker routes import-kind jobs to the pipeline via a token (breaking a module cycle), so import inherits the queue's locking, retry, and restart-survival. Import/export conversions run asynchronously against an internal pandoc-server sidecar with limits and graceful failure (ADR 0009). This is the plumbing; the import (#63) and export (#65) features enqueue jobs onto it. Sidecar & config: - pandoc/core:3.6 in HTTP server mode added to the Compose stack, internal network only, with a wget healthcheck on /version; the api depends on it healthy and reaches it via the new PANDOC_URL env (default http://pandoc:3030). - readyz gains a warning-level `converter` check: an unreachable sidecar degrades import/export but never flips the instance to unready (new `warn` status on ReadinessCheck). Conversion flow (apps/api/src/import-export/): - ConversionJob table (per-request work queue, distinct from the name-keyed maintenance Job table): owner, formats, input/result bytes, status, attempts, lockedAt. Migration + owner cascade. - PandocConverter (abstract) + PandocServerConverter: POST / with {text,from,to,standalone}; binary input formats (docx/odt/…) are base64-encoded in `text`; 60 s AbortController timeout; input/output size caps. Failures map to distinct localized codes — converter_unavailable / converter_timeout (retryable) and conversion_failed (final). - ConversionWorker: claims one job at a time with `FOR UPDATE SKIP LOCKED` (safe against overlapping sweeps and a second process), recovers a stale RUNNING lock, retries transient failures up to 3 attempts then fails. Live editing now obeys the same rules as REST: the collab-token mode comes from the shared grant resolution, anonymous visitors can join public pages, and revoking write access flips a running session to read-only within seconds. - Anonymous public tokens: `GET /pages/:id/collab-token` is `@Public()` but still permission-guarded, so a logged-out visitor gets an `ro` token where a `public` grant makes the page readable (404 otherwise). The token's `userId` is nullable (shared schema + collab context) for anonymous subjects. - Prompt revocation: the pond-level NOTIFY (#39) now also fires on label tree/assignment changes (LabelsService move/remove/assign/unassign), and the collab server closes the *actual* WebSocket instead of only sending an application-level close message. Hocuspocus' `closeConnections` leaves the socket open so the client only re-checks on its ~30s message timeout; `closeDocumentConnections` drops the socket so the client reconnects and re-authenticates with a freshly-resolved token at once — the "within seconds" downgrade the milestone promises. - Tests: the #52 fixture matrix gains anonymous cases (public grant → `ro`, none → 404); a collab db test proves an editor downgraded to reader goes read-only on reconnect (its post-downgrade edits no longer reach a peer); a new browser `collab-permissions` pack covers the read-only participant and the live downgrade end to end (new plain `fixture-editor` account). Every route now declares its access rule explicitly and is enforced through the shared resolution algorithm (permissions.md): - PermissionGuard + decorators (@RequiresPondRole, @RequiresPagePermission, @RequiresAttachmentPermission, @AuthenticatedOnly) applied to every route; a route-enumeration test proves full coverage alongside @Public()/Site-Admin-guarded routes. - 404/403 policy (documented in README conventions): denied reads answer 404 (existence hiding), denied writes on readable things answer 403; trash views need write capability (ADR 0013). - PermissionService resolves page/pond questions via the shared resolver, with an in-process pond-context cache (grants + label parents) that is invalidated on every grant/label-tree change and TTL-bounded as a multi-process safety net. - reindex hooks: page create/rename (title) and label assign/unassign/

Maintain a server-side `page_links` index on every content change so
backlinks and missing-target ("phantom") links can be queried.

Version history is a core kickoff decision (ADR 0013). Snapshots are full, self-contained encoded Yjs states, so restore never depends on the update log and compaction (#40) cannot lose history. (The page_versions / page_pending_contributors tables and base schema landed a commit early, bundled into 3583a04; this commit completes #41.) - schema: page_versions gains created_by (editor of manual/pre-restore versions; null for automatic snapshots). shared: PageVersionView, CreateVersionInput, PageVersionTrigger. - collab: PostgresVersionStore tracks contributors per open doc (onChange), flushes them to the shared page_pending_contributors accumulator on store, creates an automatic snapshot on last-participant disconnect (only if something changed — no duplicate on a quick reconnect) and every 30 active-editing minutes. Contributors and snapshot are consumed atomically. - api: POST /pages/:id/versions creates a named version (write permission, label + creator, snapshot reconstructed from persisted state, consumes the same contributor accumulator). Daily version-thinning scheduler job keeps all versions for 90 days, then the newest auto snapshot per day; manual and pre-restore versions are never thinned. pre_restore trigger reserved for #42. Tests: collab (one auto version on session end with the full two-author contributor set, none when unchanged, no duplicate on reconnect, interval snapshot); api (named version stores label+creator, contributor set consumed, non-owner refused, thinning time-travel keeps newest-per-day beyond window). Update logs grow with every edit; compaction bounds storage and load time. - prisma: `collab_open_sessions` table (page_id, heartbeat_at) — the live-session registry that lets the compaction job avoid pages being edited, decoupled from collab (no api↔collab network call) and self- healing (a crashed collab's rows age out of the freshness window). - collab: `PostgresSessionRegistry` marks a page open on document load and closed on unload, and refreshes an every-30s heartbeat for all open docs; wired into the server hooks and started/stopped in index.ts. - api: `CompactionService` runs hourly via the shared scheduler (#31). Seed script extends the fixture matrix with a shared "Content Fixtures" pond (owned by fixture-user): an "Every Element" page covering every editor schema node and mark (#24), and a "Fixture Image" page with one real, servable uploaded image. "Every Element" loads a checked-in Yjs snapshot (prisma/fixtures/content-page.yjs) generated from a human-readable Markdown source (content-page.md) via a deterministic regeneration script (pinned Y.Doc clientID; refuses to write a snapshot that isn't a fixed point of the Markdown round-trip). New apps/web/e2e/content.spec.ts consolidates the M2 content regression pack: page lifecycle, editor basics, image paste, trash, and — the pack's actual regression pin — a byte-for-byte comparison of the fixture page's exported Markdown against the checked-in fixture. Verified this catches regressions: temporarily mutated docToMarkdown's heading serializer, rebuilt, re-seeded, confirmed the comparison failed, then reverted. This pack now runs in CI (a second step in the existing auth-e2e job, reusing its already-built-and-seeded stack) alongside the existing local-only feature packs. Closes #32 |

Backend: a generic maintenance-job scheduler (SchedulerService, `jobs` table) that any later maintenance job registers with instead of growing its own timer loop. Due-ness and the run-mutex both live in the DB row (`lastRunAt` survives a restart; claiming a due job is one atomic `UPDATE ... WHERE status != 'RUNNING'`), and an injectable ClockService lets tests simulate retention elapsing without waiting or faking the global clock. Trash endpoints: GET /ponds/:id/trash (list), POST /pages/:id/restore, DELETE /pages/:id/purge (manual, bypasses retention) — all sharing the same purge logic as the scheduled daily job (default 30-day retention, new trash.retentionDays instance setting). Purging deletes a page's content cache, update log, and attachment files/quota; page_versions is a placeholder until M3 exists. Direct navigation to a trashed page now 404s with a distinguishable `page_trashed` code for editors (a plain 404 for everyone else) instead of the generic not-found. Attachment.pageId — added in #27 but never wired up — now gets set on every page state save to whichever page's document currently embeds the file, which is what lets purge find a page's files. Frontend: a per-pond trash view (restore/purge), a "move to trash" action with confirmation in the page menu, and a trash link in the sidebar for pond owners. Also fixes react-query retrying 4xx responses for several seconds by default, which was masking the trash-hint 404 in the UI (and would have affected any other not-found/permission error the same way). The seed script now provisions the documented fixture matrix (fixture-admin / fixture-user / fixture-pending, idempotent upserts, rate-limit reset for disposable databases). A six-test Playwright pack drives the real UI against a full local stack with Mailpit: complete signup→mail→verify→first-login journey, wrong-password error, guarded route redirect honoring ?next (race between the login page and the anonymous guard fixed by teaching the guard about ?next), menu logout, site-admin gating, and a profile rename reflected in the top bar. The pack self-skips without E2E_MAILPIT_URL, so the CD smoke stage (now pinned to smoke.spec.ts) stays untouched; a new CI job boots api + web dev server against postgres/mailpit service containers and runs the pack on every PR and push. Add user, identity, session, and auth-support data model
Prisma models per data-model.md: users (status enum, site-admin flag), user_identities (password provider now, OIDC later — subject is the stable user id), sessions (hashed ids), auth_tokens (hashed, single- use), plus rate_limits and mail_outbox for the upcoming M1 stories. UsersService creates accounts transactionally with Argon2id-hashed password identities (OWASP parameters, rehash detection) and maps uniqueness violations to field-level conflicts. Database-backed suites run when TEST_DATABASE_URL is set — locally against the dev db, in CI via a new postgres service container; shared auth schemas (username, password policy incl. common-password blocklist) ship with tests. Add Prisma with PostgreSQL, automatic migrations, and /readyz
apps/api gains Prisma (instance_settings as the first model) with the initial migration applied automatically at startup via prisma migrate deploy, a lazy-connecting PrismaService, and GET /api/v1/readyz reporting named checks (database reachable, migrations applied) with 200/503. DATABASE_URL joins the validated environment schema; MIGRATE_ON_START=false skips deploys for tests and tooling.
